The last weekend of May is upon us. The weather looks grim, but your weekend plans don’t have to. Check out these Rock On Philly picks to spruce up your weekend!

Friday 5/29:

Local music company KBM Productions is celebrating their 1 year anniversary with a party at Impact Hub. KBM specializes in recording and production in the Fishtown area. RSVP for the party for some cool jams and free food! Get more info here and here!

The rain might make you want to stay indoors, and you can enjoy good music under a roof at Boot & Saddle. They will be hosting Philadelphia bands Reverend Mantis with a bluesy, garage band feel and The Downtown Club with an indie rock sound.

For something a bit harder, Kung Fu Necktie has precision metal rockers Valkyrie for their album release party. Joining them will be JJL and Clamfight.  Get tickets here!

Saturday 5/30:

Festival Pier is stocking up some incredible artists for their Annual Roots Picnic. The event is sold out, which is no surprise considering they are bringing artists like Phantogram, The Weeknd, and, of course, The Roots. Tickets are pricey on StubHub, but check it out if you are dying to go.

If you want to keep the party going after the Roots Picnic, you have your pick! The TLA is having the official OkayFuture Roots Picnic Afterparty with Hudson Mohawke – get tickets here.

Underground Arts also has their own after-shindig, with performances by Questlove, Cosmo Baker, and more. Get tickets here!

Due to popular demand, Canadian duo Purity Ring is putting on two shows at Union Transfer. Don’t miss these chances to hear their dreamy synth pop and get your way in here.

Sunday 5/31:

At the Liacouras Center, the 5th Annual Cupcake Smash sponsored by Philabundance will be taking place. It will be an over-the-top bake sale with professional pastry chefs with proceeds going towards Philabundance. Buy your tickets here for a great cause that’ll satisfy your taste buds.

The ArtWell Festival is taking places rain or shine in the Northeast. There will be live music, poetry readings, food trucks, and crafts for kids. ArtWell encourages art for all people and the support of art in its community through engaging youth and the public away from violence and crime. The event is all ages and, best of all, FREE!
